#28 Nine Inch Nails - The Perfect Drug (Dir. Mark Romanek, 1997)

I remember being very excited when this video was released. I expected it to be related to the film Lost Highway since Trent Reznor produced the soundtrack. Instead, Mark Romanek went a different way and created a unique work of art inspired by Edward Gorey's "The Gashlycrumb Tinies.

The second of Fred Stuhr's stop motion masterpieces for Tool. Adam Jones assisted on this and directed all of their future videos after Stuhr's tragic death, but they didn't quite capture the magic of Sober and Prison Sex.

Tom Petty - Don't Come Around Here No More

Tom Petty's adventure in wonderland puts a new meaning to the saying "Let Them Eat Cake". This video always make me want to eat my coffee cup.

John Frusciante - Going Inside

Lots of jumping, spinning and falling with out of focus shots and frenetic cuts somehow come together to make this a fascinating video.

Guns N' Roses - Don't Cry

Just about the perfect rock 'n' roll video. Subtext makes this better than November Rain, but they are both very well put together. Too bad I couldn't exactly say the same for Estranged (Dolphins....wtf).

Radiohead - Paranoid Android

Radiohead commishioned Magnus Carleson to create a video using characters from his cartoon "Robin" for this video. The first time I saw this was in Paris on my honeymoon, so it gets extra bonus points for being awesome.

#38 Wax - California (Dir. Spike Jonze, 1995)

Wax - California

While the man on fire gets all of the attention, the thing that gets me about this video is the closing scene of the girl sadly looking out the window, oblivious to all that is going on. There is something about that melancholy that struck a chord, reminding me of being little and looking out the window at the world.

Guns 'N' Roses - November Rain

GNR's epic cinematic video was the first in a trilogy from the Use Your Illusion albums. The first two were great artistic achievements. The last one was dolphins? Still don't get that.

#40 Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall Pt. II (Dir. Alan Parker, 1980)

Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall

The original video features the schoolmaster puppet from the live show and Gerald Scarfe animation sequences. The most widely played video comes from the movie, though both are directed by Alan Parker, and both are great.

#41 Pearl Jam - Jeremy (Dir. Mark Pellington, 1992)

Pearl Jam - Jeremy

Predating Columbine and Va Tech, this video is much more relevant today. This video actually scared the hell out of me when it was released. There was this kid named James that I went to school with that was more than a bit odd. He took so much shit over the years that I was sure he would show up one day to gun us all down. Even though this video is about Jeremy Delle shooting himself, the editing at the end was subjective making it appear that he shot his classmates.

#42 Beastie Boys - Sabotage (Dir. Spike Jonze, 1994)

BEASTIE BOYS - SABOTAGE

The Beasite Boys star in the mock 70's crime drama TV show "Sabotage" directed by Spike Jonze. I just wonder why the beastie boys never had their own action figures, with as many characters as they have created over the years. I just imagine MCA with kung-fu grip, Ad-Rock with a rocket pack, and Mike D with 10 inch platform shoes.....It'd be great.

Smashing, bashing, shredding, drilling & sawing. If only this was a mashup with Gangster Trippin' and this video might have made it to #1.
